It's true, this year I have two neighbours who have Christmas decorations up already! When I was small my Dad complained if Christmas was in the house before 21st December and I guess the 12 days of Christmas is now about the two months before and that weird bit between Christmas and New Year...
You may have seen the news about "Christmas Creep" the idea that we start seeing Christmas in all the shops, Christmas music in the supermarkets is a huge retail push, they think they are aligning with the emotional and cultural shifts of the consumer... so as a small business or charity you will feel that pressure to have everything lined up too!
So here are some ideas for you if you aren't quite there yet...
- Run Christmas-themed promotions/campaign
- On social media? Keep yourself in their minds by running a Christmas countdown, or sparkling up your offers, include behind-the-scenes content and interactive posts.
- Got customer's email addresses? Don't be shy, send an email to them for Christmas, now if you have gifts or as a thank you for their support during the year!
- Christmas-up your website to spread that joy...
- Create a simple gift guide
- What do you offer for Christmas, can you give it a Christmas wrapping physically or otherwise?!
- Who could it be good for - mum, kids, friends who have everything
- The cost-of-living may mean people are counting their pennies, how can you make your ideas stand out in this market?
- Make it easy for them to buy/contact you
- Be where the customer is, online, at local markets, school fayres, meetings
